NOTICE ABOUT CYCLONE ALFRED

UPDATE ABOUT THE INCOMING WEATHER FROM CYCLONE ALFRED.

Dear guests,
We’re helping to keep you informed about the developing weather situation that may impact us this week and into the weekend.
While most official disaster updates are focused on the coastal areas, there is a very likely possibility that our area could experience severe weather, including strong winds (100km+ plus) and heavy rain as the system moves inland. This will cause our river area to flood.
At this stage, we want to provide as much notice as possible so you can make an informed decision about your travel plans.
Weather conditions can change quickly, and we will continue to monitor updates from authorities. We’ll keep guests informed via email and updates on our socials as we receive more information.

If You Choose to Travel or stay:

If you are still planning to visit or stay with us, you do so at your own risk.
If you choose to stay, we recommend taking the following precautions, especially if staying in a caravan:
  • Secure loose items such as awnings, outdoor furniture, and annexes. Strong winds can cause damage or pose safety risks.
DO NOT leave any loose items outside your accommodation.
  • Check your tie-downs and stabilizers to ensure your caravan is secure. However please remember you stay at your own risk and stabilization and security of your property is your responsibility.
  • Stay updated on weather alerts through the Bureau of Meteorology and local news.
If our communication systems go down it is important you stay connected with weather updates and follow official advice to make your own safety decisions.
  • Have an emergency kit, including a torch, extra water, non-perishable food, and a battery-powered radio. (We may be forced to cut pumps, gas and power to ensure safety and preserve only critical usage)
  • Be prepared for potential power outages and limited mobile service in extreme weather. Keep devices charged so we can contact you, if communications are down we will be accessible on UHF 59.
  • Stay away from rising waters (this includes our river and camp area)
DO NOT CAMP in our off-grid area.
  • Tape up windows if needed or broken.

Also, you MAY NOT have visitors during this weather event. We need to know every person that is on site at all times. If you leave – please notify us via sms. Otherwise we will assume you are on site.

In the event of evacuation.

Our evacuation point will be in the driveway area at front of reception. You will be notified in person, or via text, or via our in park announcement system.

In a take shelter situation (high winds and/or accommodation damage).

Please DO NOT stay in your caravans if the wind is severe. Seek shelter in our main amenities block which is brick.

Your safety is our priority, and we understand this may impact your travel plans.
If you have any concerns or wish to adjust your booking, please reach out to us.
We’re happy to offer a credit or date change given the circumstances. If you would like to change please send an email to us via our contact form and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can (we’re receiving a high volume of calls)
We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this unpredictable situation and do our best to get back to everyone as soon as we can while we’re also preparing the park (and our home and family) for any damaging weather.
We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Stay safe everyone 💕
